ABOUT STUDIO SIMEON
A design-led Architecture practice based in Newcastle, crafting bespoke spaces that are delightful, enduring and meaningful.
Committed to working with passionate clients to create unique and beautiful spaces that foster meaningful connections with both people and their surrounding environments.
Each project is approached as a unique collaboration, one cultivated through conversation and exploration, uncovering the unique narrative that underpins your project.
I believe architecture should be crafted to connect people to place, and to one another.
APPROACH
Delightful
My work aims to spark joy, through playful details, warm materials, and moments of unexpected beauty.
Enduring
Longevity matters to me. I design spaces and choose materials that are robust, timeless, and sustainable.
Meaningful
Every home has a story. I work to uncover and honour that story, whether it’s the memories held in a family home, the character of the landscape, or the rhythm of a family’s daily life.
About simeon
Simeon Grew — Director
Simeon is passionate about working with creative minded homeowners on robust, long term projects, with a particular focus on alterations and additions. He works with honest materials to create enduring spaces that bring joy, last the distance, and carry a sense of meaning and memory. Based in Lake Macquarie, he works with clients across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and the greater Hunter region.
He began his career at Suters Architects (now ARC Architects) in Newcastle, working across a broad range of projects including hospitals, high density residential, and commercial work throughout the city from 2010 to 2017. It was here that he was drawn toward residential architecture specifically, enjoying the closeness of working directly with homeowners and the meaningful nature of designing homes. He went on to spend several years at Craggspace Architecture, a small residential practice run by a friend, a season that paired good design work with newborns of their own, before establishing Studio Simeon in 2023.
Simeon studied architecture at the University of Newcastle, where he graduated with first class honours in 2012, and won the Newcastle 2020 Vision design competition, contributing ideas for the renewal of the city. He is a registered architect and a member of the Australian Institute of Architects.
Outside the studio, Simeon is usually chasing down good coffee around Newcastle, out on a trail run, or spending time with his wife and three kids.
HOW I WORK
I work differently. I take on a small number of projects at any given time, which means your project gets genuine creative attention. When you work with Studio Simeon, you work with me. I'm the one who answers your emails, visits your site, draws your plans, and sees your project through to the end. You don't get passed around.
